Is it too late to say Happy New Year?

It's been many months since my last post. I have completed a few projects and have had little success selling any of the bags that I have so far. It is 2012 and since the world is supposed to end in December I figured I better get to work. I recently finished a big red tote bag that I made for my cousin in Louisiana and I am working on a diaper bag for my sister in law to give as a gift. I hope to blog more this year and complete more projects than I did in 2011.

My First Bag for Sale

I finally finished a bag that I am putting up for sale. It is a large handmade bag (100% mid-weight cotton). It is 22.5 inches tall and 21 inches wide. The interior is green and has four large pockets. There are deep pockets on the the sides of the exterior. The bag is $50. Please let me know if you would like this or another bag. I am looking forward to making more bags in different styles and sizes.

It's been a while

So I've been a big slacker when it comes to this blog. I haven't posted anything since March. So since then I have made another bag for my niece to use as a diaper bag and two skirts for my daughter. I have so many new things I would like to make and share here so I better get to work. Pictures coming soon.

March Madness

No this post is not about basketball. I have so many things to sew this month. A diaper bag and matching accessories for my niece's baby shower, Origami bag set for the Style Stitches Monthly Bag Challenge, a skirt for Sydney and I'd like to make a skirt for myself. Whew! that's a lot of stuff. So to get started here is the fabric for the diaper bag. I'll also use it for the Origami bag set. I love sewing!

February's Fabric Selection

I have picked the fabric for bag two of the 2011 Style Stitches Bag Challenge. Cost always drives the decisions I make, especially when choosing fabric. This fabric was on sale and since I got the end of the bolt I got a little extra off. I love JoAnn Fabrics. My favorite color is purple (always has been) and I have a thing for butterflies. I liked this fabric for its dark colors so it wouldn't get dirty easily. The bag I'll be making is a reversible shopping tote. It only has two pattern pieces so hopefully it pull together faster than last month.

The Cosmo Bag is Complete

I finished the bag I was working on in January. It was quite possibly the most challenging thing I've sewn to date. I haven't sewn that many things I suppose. Amy Butler's book is great, don't get me wrong, I just could have used more pictures of the steps. Luckily the host of the Bag Challenge posted a sew along on her blog just as I was getting to what I thought were the most challenging parts of the bag. I am looking forward to the next bag. I'll have my fabric selections up later today.

I am looking forward to participating in this monthly bag challenge hosted by JemJam. I have never done anything like this before. I like to sew and I LOVE bags, who doesn't. I'll post pictures as I work. Check back in a few weeks for my progress.
